How to Use the Basketball Stats Calculator
This basketball stats calculator computes advanced efficiency metrics. Enter your basic game stats and get true shooting %, eFG%, and more instantly.
Why Advanced Stats Matter
Traditional FG% treats all shots equally. True Shooting % and eFG% capture that 3-pointers and free throws have different values. A player shooting 45% FG but taking only 2-pointers is less efficient than one shooting 40% but attempting 40% of shots from 3. TS% of 56% is roughly league average; 60%+ is elite.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this basketball stats calculator free?
Yes, completely free with no signup required.
What is true shooting percentage (TS%)?
True Shooting Percentage accounts for the extra value of 3-pointers and free throws. TS% = Points / (2 × (FGA + 0.44 × FTA)). League average TS% is approximately 56–58%. A TS% above 60% is considered excellent.
What is effective field goal percentage (eFG%)?
eFG% adjusts FG% to give extra credit for 3-pointers: eFG% = (FGM + 0.5 × 3PM) / FGA. It treats made 3-pointers as worth 1.5 field goals. League average eFG% is about 52–54%.
What is usage rate in basketball?
Usage rate estimates the percentage of team possessions used by a player while they are on the court: USG% = 100 × (FGA + 0.44 × FTA + TOV) × (Team MP / 5) / (MP × (Team FGA + 0.44 × Team FTA + Team TOV)). A star player may have 30%+ usage.
What is a good PER?
Player Efficiency Rating (PER) is a per-minute rating normalized so the league average is 15. Above 20 is very good (All-Star level). Above 25 is excellent (MVP candidate). Below 10 is poor. PER has limitations — it doesn't fully capture defense.
