How to Use the Room Layout Planner
Planning a room layout before moving furniture saves hours of work and back strain. The room layout planner lets you test different configurations in minutes and find the arrangement that works best for traffic flow, natural light, and how the space feels.
Step 1: Set your room dimensions
Enter your room's width and length in feet (or switch to meters with the unit toggle). Use a tape measure for accurate dimensions. Click "Apply Room Size" to resize the canvas. The canvas scales automatically to fit your room proportionally.
Step 2: Add furniture from the palette
Click any furniture button to place it in the center of the room. Each piece is scaled to real-world dimensions — a queen bed is 5×6.7 ft, a sofa is 7×3 ft. This means your layout test reflects actual clearance and traffic flow, not just visual proportion.
Step 3: Arrange and rotate
Click a furniture piece to select it (it turns orange), then drag it to your desired position. Click "Rotate Selected" to rotate 90 degrees. Grid snapping keeps pieces aligned by default. Toggle snapping off for freeform placement near walls.
Step 4: Export your layout
Once satisfied, click "Download PNG" to save your floor plan. This is useful for sharing with contractors, designers, or family members, or for keeping a reference during a move.
