How to Use the Tournament Bracket Generator
Setting up a tournament bracket by hand is tedious and error-prone. This generator handles the math and layout automatically — just enter your teams and start playing.
Step 1: Enter Team Names
Type one team or player name per line. The generator supports 4 to 64 participants. If you enter a number that isn't a power of 2 (e.g., 6 teams), it automatically adds BYE slots so the bracket structure stays clean and teams with byes advance automatically.
Step 2: Choose Bracket Type and Seeding
Select single or double elimination. Single elimination means one loss and you're out — great for quick tournaments. Double elimination gives every team two lives, with a separate losers bracket running in parallel. For seeding, choose "Seeded" to pit the #1 team against the lowest seed (standard tournament format) or "Random" to shuffle matchups.
Step 3: Fill In Results
Click a team name in any matchup to mark them as the winner. They automatically advance to the next round. Click the winner again to undo a selection if you made a mistake. The bracket updates in real-time as you fill it in.
Download Your Bracket
Once generated, use the Download PNG button to capture the entire bracket as a PNG image. This works for sharing digitally or printing a physical scorecard.
FAQ
Is the tournament bracket generator free?
Yes, completely free with no signup. Add team names, choose bracket type, and generate an interactive bracket you can fill in by clicking match winners.
What is double elimination?
In double elimination, a team must lose twice before they're eliminated. Losers from the winners bracket move to a losers bracket and get a second chance. The final is played between the winners bracket champion and the losers bracket champion.
How many teams can I add?
You can add 4 to 64 teams. If your team count isn't a power of 2 (4, 8, 16, 32, 64), the system automatically adds BYE slots so teams with byes advance automatically to the next round.
What is seeded vs. random bracket mode?
In seeded mode, the #1 seed faces the lowest seed (#8 faces #1 in an 8-team bracket). In random mode, team positions are shuffled randomly before the bracket is generated.
Can I save my bracket progress?
Yes, bracket configurations are automatically saved to localStorage. Your results persist through page refreshes, so you can track a multi-day tournament.
Can I print or export the bracket?
Yes, use the Download button to save the bracket as a PNG image, perfect for printing or sharing digitally.
