How to Use the Random Meal Picker
Deciding what to eat can feel harder than it should. "What's for dinner?" often leads to a 20-minute standoff. The random meal picker takes the decision-making paralysis out of the equation — you set your filters, click one button, and the slot machine picks your next meal.
Step 1: Set Your Filters
Choose a cuisine (Italian, Mexican, Thai, etc.), meal type (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, or dessert), and dietary preference (vegetarian, vegan, keto, paleo, or gluten-free). Leave any filter on "Any" to keep your options wide open.
Step 2: Watch the Slot Machine Pick
Click "Pick a Meal!" and the slot-machine animation scrolls through options before landing on your randomly selected meal. The result card shows the meal name, cuisine type, estimated prep time, and difficulty level — everything you need to decide if it's the right choice.
Step 3: Skip or Save
Not feeling that suggestion? Hit "Not That One" to get another pick from the filtered pool — it won't repeat the same meal until you've seen everything. Click the heart icon to save favorites, or "I'm Feeling Lucky" for a completely random pick with no filters applied.
Step 4: Plan the Week
Use the "Week Plan" button to generate seven dinner suggestions at once, based on your current cuisine and diet filters. Great for weekly meal prep and grocery list planning — you'll see a different suggestion for each day of the week.
Add Your Own Meals
The Custom tab lets you add meals to the database that aren't already included — family recipes, local restaurant favorites, or anything else. Custom meals are saved to your browser and included in future random picks automatically.
