How to Use the Scholarship Search Checklist
The scholarship search checklist organizes your entire scholarship search in one place. Students who track their applications systematically apply to more scholarships and miss fewer deadlines. The average scholarship applicant who uses a tracking system applies to 3x more opportunities.
Step 1: Add All Scholarships You Plan to Apply To
Start by adding every scholarship on your list, even ones you're only considering. Include the name, deadline, and amount. Don't worry about filling in all fields immediately — just get everything into the tracker. You can update statuses as you work through applications. A good starting list has 20-30 scholarships across multiple categories.
Step 2: Sort by Deadline and Work Systematically
Use the "Sort by Deadline" option to see which scholarships are coming up soonest. Work on the earliest deadlines first. As you start each application, change the status to "In Progress." When you submit, change it to "Applied." This gives you an accurate picture of where each application stands at any time.
Step 3: Cast a Wide Net
Apply broadly across all 7 categories: merit-based, need-based, athletic, diversity, field-specific, essay-required, and local/community. Local and community scholarships often have lower competition than national awards. A $1,000 local scholarship with 50 applicants is often more attainable than a $10,000 national scholarship with 50,000 applicants.
Step 4: Track Award Amounts
Add the award amount for each scholarship. This helps you prioritize high-value applications when you have limited time. Focus on scholarships where the effort-to-reward ratio makes sense. A scholarship requiring a 10-page essay for $500 may be a lower priority than a scholarship requiring a 1-page essay for $2,500.

Not Started means you haven't begun the application. In Progress means you're actively working on it. Applied means you've submitted the application. Awarded means you received the scholarship. Rejected means your application was declined.
Is this scholarship tracker free?
Yes, completely free with no account or signup required. All data stays on your device in your browser's localStorage.
