How to Add a Watermark to an Image
This image watermark tool works entirely in your browser. Upload your image, configure the watermark, and download the result — no files are ever sent to a server.
Step 1: Upload Your Main Image
Click the upload area or drag and drop your photo. Any common image format is accepted (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF).
Step 2: Choose Text or Image Watermark
For Text Watermark, type your text (e.g., "© 2026 Your Name"), choose font family, size, color, and opacity. The rotation slider lets you tilt the text diagonally — a -30° or 45° angle is the classic watermark look.
For Image Watermark, upload a logo or watermark image. PNG files with transparent backgrounds work best. Set the size as a percentage of the main image and adjust opacity.
Step 3: Position the Watermark
Choose from preset positions: Center, Bottom Right (most professional), Bottom Left, Top Right, or Top Left. Select Tile to repeat the watermark across the entire image in a grid pattern — useful for protecting photos that could be partially cropped.
Step 4: Download
Choose PNG for lossless output (preserves quality) or JPEG for smaller file size. Adjust the quality slider for JPEG, then click Download Watermarked Image.
Tips for Effective Watermarking
Use 40–60% opacity for a visible but not distracting watermark. White text works on dark images; dark text works on light images. For maximum protection, use tile mode so the watermark can't simply be cropped out. For professional photos, bottom-right corner at 50% opacity is the industry standard.
FAQ
Does watermarking upload my image to a server?
No. All watermarking is done entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your images never leave your device — everything is processed locally in memory.
Can I add a transparent or semi-transparent watermark?
Yes. The opacity slider controls watermark transparency from 0% (invisible) to 100% (fully opaque). Most watermarks look best at 30–60% opacity.
What watermark position options are available?
You can choose from Center, Bottom Right, Bottom Left, Top Right, Top Left, and Tile (which repeats the watermark across the entire image in a grid pattern).
Can I use a logo or image as a watermark instead of text?
Yes. Toggle to 'Image Watermark' mode and upload a watermark image (PNG with transparency works best). Set the size as a percentage of the main image and choose position.
What format is the watermarked image downloaded as?
You can download as PNG (lossless, preserves any transparency) or JPEG (smaller file size). A quality slider lets you control JPEG compression.
Is the watermark tool free?
Yes, completely free. No account, no limits, no watermarks added by the tool itself. Your watermark text is exactly what you specify.
